Cultures & Cooking (1st-4th)

Grab your passport and your fork- were taking a culinary journey around the world! In Cultures and Cooking, students will explore the rich traditions, flavors, and histories of global cuisines. Each class period will spotlight a different geographical region, delving into the significance of its culture and the role food plays in daily life, celebrations, and history. Students will have the opportunity to research and discover more about each destination, then bring their knowledge to life by preparing authentic dishes from the region. Through hands-on cooking and culture exploration, this course will expand students' understanding of the world - one bite at a time!

REQUIREMENTS

Required Texts: None

Copy/Supply Fee: $80 (paid directly to Courtney Mays at Orientation or first class attended)

Tuition: $365 ($36.50/month for 10 months, August-May)

ABOUT THE TEACHER

Courtney Mays

B.Ed. in Family and Consumer Science

Courtney is passionate about helping students develop practical life skills. She graduated from Liberty University with a degree in Secondary Education: Family and Consumer Science and has years of experience teaching in both the public schools and a homeschool co-op. She loves bringing creativity and real-world applications into the classroom. Outside of teaching, she is also a wife, mother to a 14-month-old, and a part-time wedding floral designer. This will be her first year at Bridge Academy; she is so excited to work with her students, helping them learn valuable skills they can use throughout their lives!
