English 1
First graders will learn word analysis skills, vocabulary, reading comprehension, capitalization, punctuation; rhyming words, compound words, synonyms, antonyms, homonyms, and contractions; prefixes and suffixes; alphabetizing words; and writing original stories in this English 1 course.
The goal is for students to be able to phonetically sound out words, begin to read fluently, and get excited about doing so. Students will be expected to complete lessons from their Letters and Sounds and Language books each week.
Songs, games, and activities will be incorporated into the lessons to keep learning fun!
