Government & Economics

Government (Fall): We will use an impressive list of original texts to understand the history behind the American Revolution and the road to revolution in regards to our rights. The background helps the students understand arguments and construction of The Articles of Confederation, The Constitution, The Bill of Rights, and Amendments. We will not only cover the structure of our government, including branches, elections, etc, but we will read and debate important documents, speeches and decisions that have shaped our government.
Economics (Spring): Using some of the books by Richard Maybury, a former economics teacher, we will set a solid foundation for economics by studying economic history, schools of thought, explore the basic terms, the United States Economy and current issues and then delve into business models of success. Along with the students developing a comprehensive understanding of economics, they will develop a budget outlook based on their chosen profession.
