History 5-6: Early Modern Times

In History 5-6, students will study early modern times around the world from the earliest explorers of the New World to the American Gold Rush (1600-1850). We will dive into the world of Europe through kings, queens, war, and plagues; discover the mysterious emperors of the Imperial East and learn about Napoleon’s wars; discuss the tragedies of slavery and the Trail of Tears in America; follow along with Lewis and Clark as they lead their expedition to explore the west. Susan Wise Bauer’s engaging narrative, The Story of the World, is designed as a read-aloud for parents and students to enjoy together. Students will read selections at home with parents and complete weekly assignments from the student activity guide and test booklet to reinforce class discussions and activities. (2025-2026)
