Math 1

In this class, students will develop new math concepts through interactive learning with questions and hands-on group activities. Math manipulatives and games will be used to develop problem solving skills, mathematical reasoning, and computational fluency. Math concepts covered include: skip counting; ordinal positions; sorting rules and patterns; mastery of basic addition and most basic subtraction facts; adding two digit numbers without regrouping; measuring; comparing volume, mass, and area; counting money; telling time to the half hour; identifying polygons; graphing; and more.

REQUIREMENTS

Required Texts: Math 1 Reviews, 4th ed.

Copy fee: $20 (paid to Leslie O'Neal at Orientation or at the first class attended)

Annual tuition: $455 ($45.50/month for 10 months, August-May)

ABOUT THE TEACHER

Leslie O'Neal

B.S. in Kinesiology

Leslie loves the Lord and seeks to put him first in every area of her life. She graduated from Longwood University and has a Virginia and ACSI teaching license. She has dedicated the last 10 years to teaching students through play. She keeps students engaged and motivated to learn through hands-on activities and social interactions. In her spare time, you will find her enjoying family time by geocaching, bike riding, or relaxing on the porch or by the pool/beach with a good book in hand.
